The birdwatching club
The Birdwatching Club is Sara Keats and Danielle Mohlman. The Birdwatching Club is about the transformative power of observation and recording: like birders, our collaborative process begins with a period of measured observation, even when we don’t see a bird at all. We know that there is power in being seen. Though the performances that result from our work may be bold, loud and brash, the process by which we arrive at them begins with quiet observation and active listening.
As individuals, the members of The Birdwatching Club are theatre artists dedicated to creating intersectionally feminist work in Seattle, WA. Sara Keats is the Director of Dramaturgy at Umbrella Project and has worked with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Signature Theatre Company, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Seattle Public Theatre, and the Village Theatre, among others. Danielle Mohlman is a member of Umbrella Project’s 2018 Writers Group and has worked with Arena Stage, Cherry Lane Theatre, the Kennedy Center, Forum Theatre, and Youth Theatre Northwest, among others. Once Drowning is complete, The Birdwatching Club will disband, leaving the play as the only record that they were here.
